Katyann Gonzalez is a supportive collaborator and post-production expert.

Katyann is a video editor and colorist born, bred and living in New York. She is a gifted story teller as well as an experienced assistant editor with strong technical skills in Premiere, Avid, and Resolve. She’s been working in the realm of post-production for her entire career, from Post-PA to Post-Supervisor and everything in between.

Currently she is working on a six-part docuseries about Alabama University’s football team for Fox Nation at Wavelength Productions as as an assistant editor. Last year she worked as First Assistant Editor to Ron Dulin on the upcoming A24 feature Death of a Unicorn which is set to be released in the Spring of 2025.

She was a 2023-2024 Karen Schmeer Editing Fellow under the mentorship of Toby Shimin and Penny Falk. She is also on the steering committee of the Alliance of Documentary Editors and is the lead organizer for a new committee that’s formed to address harm and conflict within the organization through a Restorative/Transformative Justice Lens.

Her work has screened at several national and international film festivals, most recently at Sundance for the premiere of Union, and on major streaming platforms (Netflix and HBO). Many of the films she’s worked on are character studies focused around the themes of hope, adaptability, and resilience. She also has a background in editing for branded social media content. Clients include Patagonia, the WBNA, Facebook for Business, Instagram for Business, O.P.I., and JW Marriott.

Katyann thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys the exchange of ideas in filmmaking most of all in. Katyann is looking for the next project to join for Spring 2025. Her main focus at this point in her career is to attach herself to Feature-length Films and Series as an Assistant Editor/Associate Editor and work closely with talented Editors. She’s interested in doing more Narrative Editing as well, especially in the Horror genre. She’s also always on the lookout for Short Films, Branded Content, and Music Videos to Edit and Color Grade.

On a personal level, she’s a first generation American (Honduran and Irish parents) who cares about a range of political issues like prison abolition, the environmental crisis, anti-imperialism, black liberation, immigrant justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, expanding medicare/medicaid, intersectional feminism, domestic abuse, mental health awareness and fighting the ills of capitalism. Working on films that deal with any of these topics give her life meaning. She’s an avid traveler, a home chef, and a raver.
